A downloadable game for Windows

This game is best played with a gamepad.

Developed for the Jampus gamejam, this is an unfinished belt-scrolling shooter. Inspired by sci-fi, anime like Gundam and games like Ikaruga Spectrum//Trigger:ORDERBREAKER takes the light/dark mechanics of Ikaruga and applies it to color. For example:

  • Defeat red enemies with green bullets
  • Defeat blue enemies with yellow buttons

Guns are mapped to the face buttons on a gamepad.

The theme provided to me: "Break the rules to win."

This game is unfinished.

I ran out of time. This is my first time using Godot, and I thought this was a two week game jam. It wasn't! And the last two days of the jam I knew I'd be unavailable to work on the game. So, amongst many other things, the enemies and their bullet patterns are completely broken, the boss isn't working properly, and I've had to give you 150 live to compensate for. The music isn't long enough for the level, there's no real sound effects implemented (though I did make some), and the feel isn't quite where I hoped even for a jam. I learned a lot about Godot here and I'm glad I at least got somewhat close to the visual aesthetics I hoped for, but I do consider this entry unfinished relative to where I hoped to be before I had to call it quits.

(I hope to have a revised build before Christmas, if you want to play a functioning version!)

Art, engineering, design, audio, and voice acting by yours truly. The REBUILD version uses a custom compiled version of Godot 4.4 leveraging QuroBullet.
